Dental Crowns in Tijuana: Prices and a Typical Visit

Crowns are one of the easiest treatments to get done in Tijuana: many clinics have in-house labs, and a crown can often be finished in two to five days. Zirconia crowns in Mexico are commonly priced around $400 to $600, compared with $800 to $2,500 per tooth in the US. For Southern Californians, it’s often doable in a long weekend.

Crown options and prices

Material Typical Mexico price US price
Zirconia $400–$600 $1,000–$2,500
E.max (front teeth) often a little more than zirconia $1,000–$3,000
Porcelain-fused-to-metal often less than zirconia $800–$2,500

If a tooth needs a root canal first, ask for that to be quoted separately.

A typical visit

  1. Day 1: exam, X-rays, tooth preparation, scan and temporary crown.
  2. Days 2–4: the lab makes the crown. Some clinics mill crowns the same day.
  3. Final day: fit check, adjustments and cementing.

Getting several crowns? Plan four to seven days, and ask whether the clinic can do them all in one sequence.

Tips

  • Ask to see the X-ray and the reason for each crown. A crown shouldn’t be recommended for a healthy tooth.
  • Check your bite carefully before final cementing; a high crown can cause soreness.
  • Ask for the crown material in writing.
  • Allow for the border wait when you return to the US. See our Tijuana guide.
